The
Society was originally formed in 1933 making it one of the oldest in the
UK. It is understood that its first venue was at Hartsholme
Park in Lincoln, prior to World War II. Any assets went for recycling
during the conflict.
In late 1945 the Society was re-established and a
piece of land was leased from Lincoln City Council. A new railway was
built in Boultham Park between the footpath and the cemetery wall which
catered for one and a quarter, three and a half and five inch gauges.
A new track was started at its present home at
North Scarle in 1995. It is a ground level, five and seven and a quarter
inch gauge track. Over time this track has been extended to give a track
size of some 2000ft to travel on.
Allsorts of people become members of the Society, not only people with a
passion for railway and traction engines but people of all ages who help
us run the Society.
