The Society was originally formed in 1933 making it one
of the oldest in the UK. It is understood that its first venue was at
Hartsholme Park Lincoln, pre World War II. If any “fixed assets existed”
they went for recycling during the conflict.
In late 1945 the Society was re-established and a piece
of land was leased from the City Council. A new railway was built in
Boultham Park between the footpath and the cemetery wall which catered
for one and a quarter, two and a half, three and a half and five inch
gauges.
A new track was started here in North Scarle in 1995 at
ground level in five and seven and a quarter inch gauges. Over a period
of time this was expanded around the outside of the field to give a
track of some 2,000 feet in length.
All sorts of people become members of the Society
besides those who have an interest in railway and traction engines and
we have many people, of all ages, who help assist us in running the
society.
